For the manufacture of seamless tubes, ISMT melts steel in-house at its Jejuri plant (formerly know as ISSAL). Access to this source of supply not only provides us excellent control over the quality of the raw material, but also over delivery schedules, thereby minimizing delivery and quality risks for the customer. Most importantly, it gives us the unique ability to supply seamless tubes made from special steels tailored to the customer's specifications. ISMT's modern steel plant has a capacity of 350,000 metric tons per annum. The primary production facilities include an Electric Arc Furnace, a Ladle Refining Furnace, a Vacuum-Degassing Plant, a Continuous Caster and a twelve-stand "no-twist" Rolling Mill. Apart from these facilities, we employ a variety of finishing and testing equipment that enable us to meet even the most demanding customer requirements. The Jejuri Plant is ISO/TS16949:2002, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 approved. Our steel mill's product mix includes both rounds as well as rounded-corner squares. These items form the basic raw material inputs for a variety of industries such as forging, seamless tube making, automobile and auto-ancillaries, textile machinery, fasteners and variety of other general engineering applications. With a relatively low heat size (of 35 tons) in the Electric Arc Furnace, ISMT has the ability to produce virtually any grade of steel, even in small batch quantities, for a particular order. Listed are some of the typical grades we produce:
